The Politics of Hunger: A Town Hall Meeting

In observance of National Hunger Awareness Day, Channel One is hosting "The Politics of Hunger: A Town Hall Meeting". Hunger is a persistent and pervasive problem in America and perhaps the "solvable" of all social and economic problems we face. The upcoming town hall meeting is an opportunity to discuss the issue of hunger and engage in a solution-oriented discussion. The meeting is free and open to the public. The meeting will be moderated and will include time for questions from the audience.

Day Break (Iran/Farsi Drama): In Iran, capital punishment is carried out according to Islamic law, which gives the family of the victim ownership of the offender’s life. When the family of the victim repeatedly fails to show up on the appointed day, Mansour’s execution is postponed again and again.

On Sunday, June 18, Rochester will host its third annual Juneteenth Celebration. "The Celebrate Freedom Family Festival" will be held at Mayo Park, behind the Civic Center on June 18, 2006 from 12-6 pm. This year's expanded celebration will feature a jazz concert by Bruce Henry, a local talent showcase, kid's activities and games, informational booths, and barbeque from Bob's Smokestack Ribs. All community member are invited to bring their families, lawn chairs, and blankets to Mayo Park for a day-long family celebration.
