Olmsted County Public Health Services is now accepting nominations for the 10th Annual Live For Others-Healthy Community Award.

Please help us acknowledge the special work of community members who volunteer their time and talents to build a healthier future for Olmsted County.

Nominations must be received by Wednesday, March 19. All nominees and award recipients will be recognized on April 8 at the Olmsted County Board meeting.

Each March, Minnesota FoodShare, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, organizes Minnesota's largest drive for the hungry: the March Campaign. Thousands of corporations, congregations, civic groups, and individuals raise millions of pounds of food and millions of dollars to feed families who need help.

Channel One has set an ambitious goal for the 2008 Campaign: $110,000 and 75,000 pounds of food.

Notice is hereby given by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, that all persons interested in the following public hearings:

  • Final Plat R2008-002PLAT by RP Crossroads LLC to be known as Walgreens Plaza. The plat consists of 3 lots on 2.67 acres located along the south side of 14th Street SW, along the east side of 2nd Avenue SW and along the west side of South Broadway (TH 63).
  • Amend the approved Final Plat #R2005-024PLAT to be known as Scenic Oaks Sixth Addition by R & M Development Co. The applicant is proposing to plat 10 individual lots and six outlots originally approved as 30 individual lots with minor changes to the size of Lot 3, Block 3. The applicant proposes to plat the roadways originally approved in the final plat. The property is located west of Scenic Oak Drive SW and south of 48th Street SW.
  • Vacation Petition R2008-005VAC UTILITY by R&M Development. The applicant is proposing to vacate the westerly 11 feet of the 40 foot drainage easement along the west line of Lot 16, Block 3, Scenic Oaks Fifth Addition. The property is located south of Scenic View Drive SW along the westerly line of the Scenic Oaks Fifth Addition development.
  • Vacation Petition R2008-004VAC by Rochester School District #535. The applicant is proposing to vacate the undeveloped right-of-way along the south property line of Block 5, Cascade Subdivision. The property is located east of 11th Avenue NW, south of the Washington Elementary School and west of 10th Avenue NW.
  • REVISED Type III, Phase II Restricted Development R2007-028CUP by Joe Weis – Weis Development Corp to be known as Washington Village. The applicant proposes to construct two apartment buildings on the former Bachman site. One apartment building would contain 67 units while the other would contain 51 units, both buildings would have underground parking as well as surface parking. Access to development would be off of 10th Ave NW, 11th Ave NW and from the Northgate Plaza Senior Housing development. The property is located north of the Northgate Plaza Senior Housing development, south of Washington School and along the east side of 11th Ave. NW.
  • Vacation Petition R2008-003VAC by Brentwood Development, LLC. The applicant is proposing to vacate the 18’ wide alley right-of-way abutting Lots 1-12, Block 5, William McCullough’s Addition. The property is located between 1st Street NW and 2nd Street NW and 5th Avenue NW and 6th Avenue NW.
  • Revised Type III, Phase II Conditional Use Permit R2007-030CUP by Jack Remick. The applicant is requesting approval for a Sand and Gravel Excavation permit to allow for the excavation of materials on the property. The excavation work is also located within the flood prone district of the Rochester Zoning Ordinance and Land Development Manual for a Sand and Gravel Excavation. The property is located south of the Rochester Athletic Club, north of the DM&E railroad tracks and west of Industrial Drive NW.

May be heard at a meeting of the Common Council to be held in the Council/Board Chambers in the Government Center, 151 4th Street SE, in said City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008.
