Olmsted County Public Health Services is now accepting nominations for the 10th Annual Live For Others-Healthy Community Award.

Please help us acknowledge the special work of community members who volunteer their time and talents to build a healthier future for Olmsted County.

Nominations must be received by Wednesday, March 19. All nominees and award recipients will be recognized on April 8 at the Olmsted County Board meeting.

MN Food Share
 
Each March, Minnesota FoodShare, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, organizes Minnesota's largest drive for the hungry: the March Campaign. Thousands of corporations, congregations, civic groups, and individuals raise millions of pounds of food and millions of dollars to feed families who need help.

Channel One has set an ambitious goal for the 2008 Campaign: $110,000 and 75,000 pounds of food.

The Meadow Park Neighbors Garage Sale will be on Saturday, May 17, from 8am until 2pm.

Signs and advertising are available for $5 per household.

Maps will be available at local convenience stores.

Presented by Professor Mark Seeley, Climatologist/Meteorologist, U of M Department of Soil,
Water, and Climate.

Professor Seeley will share what the data reveals regarding Minnesota’s climate as an entry to the discussion of global warming. Dr. Seeley is a frequent guest on Minnesota Public Radio and is the author of the book Minnesota Weather Almanac. Copies of his book will be available for purchase at the event.
