Please help us acknowledge the special work of community members who volunteer their time and talents to build a healthier future for Olmsted County.

Nominations must be received by Wednesday, March 19. All nominees and award recipients will be recognized on April 8 at the Olmsted County Board meeting.

The Youth Commission of Olmsted County is pleased to announce the 13th Annual “Outstanding Youth Award”.

We invite you to nominate a youth who has gone above and beyond expectations to make a difference in our community by:

  • Helping others
  • Living a positive lifestyle
  • Demonstrating personal integrity
  • Leading by example

Winners will be recognized at a ceremony to be held during the April 22, 2008 meeting of the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners. It is a special and exciting event, with invitations sent to winners, their families, nominators, elected officials and the press. Each winner will be presented with an award followed by a reception in the Government Center Rotunda. All nominees will be sent a recognition certificate.

MN Food Share
 
Each March, Minnesota FoodShare, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, organizes Minnesota's largest drive for the hungry: the March Campaign. Thousands of corporations, congregations, civic groups, and individuals raise millions of pounds of food and millions of dollars to feed families who need help.

Channel One has set an ambitious goal for the 2008 Campaign: $110,000 and 75,000 pounds of food.

Topic: The Second Street Corridor Study: How it Affects Us and How We Can Affect It

Amy Blenker, Second Street Project Coordinator at the Rochester Area Foundation will present key components of the Second Street Study and give a progress report to date.

Chris Flood, Rochester Area Foundation will provide some context for the Second Street Study with a short explanation of the Imagine Kutsky new zoning ordinance.

Art Walk
 
Grab your 2008 Signature Art Walk cup and get downtown this THURSDAY March 6, 2008 from 7pm-10pm for the March Art Walk. The theme for this month is but of course.....St. Patrick’s Day!

The Art Walk just keeps getting bigger and better. Thank you to everyone who has supported not only the arts, but have contributed to adding a little more "life" downtown. Don't have a glass? No worries...just stop by the Rochester Art Center to purchase one, otherwise start any where along the route.
