Or, can you believe the number of people who annually sustain a brain injury is six times greater than the total number of new multiple sclerosis, HIV and breast cancer cases combined? Yet, brain injury is often overlooked and therefore makes it a silent epidemic. In 1984 a small group of families and providers came together to form what is now the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota. It was a grassroots effort to advocate for services at a time when resources were limited at best for persons with brain injury and their families.
