The masterpiece waiting for the parade to start [1]

...two bird nets, yards and yards of green fabric, two huge umbrellas, gallons of tempera paint, two picnic tables, lots of paper grass, and over 50 community members?

A Neighborhood on Wheels!

On Friday, June 27th, RNeighbors had a spectacular float for the Rochester Fest parade.

As Rochester Fest parade go-ers sat on the boulevards of downtown neighborhood homes, RNeighbors representatives walked down the streets of the parade route to show off the great neighborhood associations that Rochester has.

During the week, SOS kids were led by artist Mike Pudolke [2] to make cardboard houses, fabric-netted tree-tops, neighborhood association signs, and a miniature picnic bench. RNeighbors board members and friends helped assemble the cardboard neighborhood on the trailer, which was loaned from Gary Komaniecki and pulled by Nate from Maier Tree and Forest [3] and Cassie. Mike from Rochester Park and Recreation helped supply RNeighbors with a large picnic bench and metal trash can for the float. The picnic table was topped with Slatterly Park Neighbor Doris Amundson’s beautiful flowers.

RNeighbors Board Members, Slatterly Park and Eastside Pioneers Neighbosr walked along the parade route and handed out Walking Cards [4] of the Eastside Pioneers Route [5].

Barb from Public Works and winners from the Litter Bit Better cartoon contest helped hand out small trash bags to everyone.

The RNeighbors float followed McGruff the Crime Dog, his nephew Scruff, and the ">National Night Out [6] crew. (National Night out is on August 5th!)

Jaime was in full force with a top hat and wig that he surprises us all with every year.

Geno, from Waste Management [7], helped secure two brand new plastic garbage bins that Wayne [8] , from Slatterly Park Neighbors [9], and Luke, from Elton Hills, helped bring up the end of the RNeighbors float.
