The Pre-Spring Break Entry!
All right, sorry about my absences in writing… it hasn’t been a good month for me, we’ll put it that way.
Anyway, on Saturday, March 18, the JM Speech Team went up to Northfield to compete in our last invitational. We brought home second place as a team, and more than a few of us brought home ribbons and medals as usual. Michael Manansala had the most priceless look on his face when he won first place in Discussion…
On Monday, the Speech Team goes to Mankato East for Big Nine. Good luck to us in advance. Also this week, on Thursday, the team will be having the Parents Showcase, where the speakers may present their speeches in front of their parents at 7:00pm. Conferences are also that night, so nosy parents who want to see how awful their kids are should also come and meet with the teachers beforehand!
Third quarter ends this Friday, the 24th, bringing with it good news and bad news depending on your grades. The English department will be having “e-term” this week also, starting on Monday, where students, instead of heading off to their regularly-scheduled English or Speech class, get to attend an educational-yet-entertaining class on a variety of topics. A few of the classes include: “Getting Serious With Seuss”, “Humorous Poetry” and “The Poetics of Bob Dylan”. On Friday, however, kids have to go back to their normal English classes to make up for last week’s two snow days.
Then comes Spring Break, the last extended break of the year before summer vacation! Students will be doing all sorts of fun stuff like watching MTV and wishing they were in the Keys or wherever they film their “Spring Break” special nowadays or playing Xbox.
