Imagine 2,378 three foot by five foot flags in the field behind the Veteran’s Memorial.
What a sight! … and for three very excellent reasons;
- the recognition of the sacrifice that 2,378 men and women made for us to protect the American Dream, our high quality of life,
- to make possible this life denied to those unable to read through no fault of their own by helping the Rochester Reading Center/Dyslexia Institute expand their program
- to make the unveiling and recognition of all non-combatants – nurses and corpsmen – a most memorable event.
On Saturday, August 26, 2006 the Veteran’s Memorial will be re-dedicated with an unveiling of a Nurse/Corpman statue to recognize the contribution of all non-combatants in our country’s wars. Senator Bob Dole will be the guest speaker.
Proceeds from this project will go to the Rochester Reading Center/Dyslexia Institute.
