5th Avenue & 7th Street SE Street Mural
Stewart Gage took this brilliant photo of the street mural from the roof of Hawthorne Literacy Center.

Tuesday, July 29, 10 am

Our pilot painting, done last summer near the Hawthorne Literacy Center on 5th Avenue and 7th Street SE, is looking a little shabby, so Slattery Park Neighbors and other community members will be getting together to retouch the beautiful flower that was designed by Susan Waughtal and modified by muralist Greg Wimmer.

Pansy mural
Pansy mural painted as part of Portland, Oregon's Intersection Repair Project

On June 16, 2007, at 8 am, neighbors will work together in the South East neighborhood to paint a mural on the street. We welcome all who are artistic, and those who aren't, to join in the fun. You don't even need to be from the SE neighborhood to help out.

The painting will take place at an intersection in front of Hawthorne Literacy Center (5th Avenue & 7th Street SE). The mural was designed by Slatterly Park Neighbor, Susan Waughtal. To view the art that we'll be painting on the street check the website.
