One Day, One Book: Set a Record

In 2007, locally 368 adults read to 5,087 children. Let's break that record in 2008!

Reading gives children a strong start for school & personal success. The Rochester area is once again encouraging citizen engagement and participating in a national reading promotion event, Read for the Record.

Join us on OCTOBER 2, 2008.

Register to read to a child before work, over lunch, when you get home, before bed...any time on October 2, 2008.

If you have a designated child or class arranged to read to, all you need to do is register. If you need a child or a class to read to, call your local school, library, or go to the United Way's Volunteer Solutions website and a reading location will be found for you.

For your book to count for the local tally you can choose any book you'd like; for the national Read for the Record, they've chosen Corduroy, a 1968 book written by Don Freeman.

Page by page, making a stronger tomorrow.
