Citizen Forester Workshop

In spring 2007, led by the City Forester, 17 tree enthusiasts graduated as official Citizen Foresters. The class culminated with the group, led by Girl Scout Troop 100 planting a ball and burlap tree at the Quarry Hill Nature Center.

Since 2006, the RNeighborWoods group has planted 200 seedlings and 688 ball-in-burlap trees in Rochester.

At RNeighbors, we know that trees make good neighbors. That is why we partner with the City and the Park and Rec Department to offer the RNeighborWoods Tree grant for a winning neighborhood to receive free boulevard trees.

Join us on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 9:30 am, for a community boulevard tree planting in the north east Rochester Northern Addition neighborhood across from Silver Lake.

Citizen Forester Workshop
Saturday, April 19, 9 am - 3 pm, at Quarry Hill Nature Center

Join us on Saturday, April 19, for an intense day of tree education, climbing, and planting. This class will give participants an increased awareness and knowledge of Rochester's urban forest, even those who've already been through a Citizen Forester class.

The city Arbor Day festival has been moved to the Mayo Civic Center – North Hall due to the weather. Trees, food and music will still be provided starting at 11am and ending at 1pm.

As stated by Arborday.org, Arbor Day is a nationally-celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. Founded by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska in 1872, National Arbor Day is celebrated each year on the last Friday in April.

A one-day workshop on managing forests will be offered on Saturday, March 15th at Saint Mary's University in Winona.

Keynote Speaker: Hannah Texler, Regional Ecologist from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will speak on the trends and factors that are changing the Blufflands
landscape.

This workshop is designed to provide an opportunity for landowners to learn about forest management options and tools appropriate for the Bluffland’s forested landscape.

We really need your help, and or just your support of our efforts(young and old) to make it an all encompassing neighborhood effort.
