2011 Fall Community Tree Planting

On Saturday, May 7, 2011, 450 neighbors, youth, and other community volunteers worked together to plant 1,000 trees in one morning, a record number of trees planted in one morning for the state of Minnesota and the RNeighborWoods program.     The city’s boulevard tree spaces are currently over half empty and each year 500-900 boulevard trees are removed to disease or damage. We need your help to add more community trees to our neighborhoods. Help us celebrate national NeighborWoods month….

Photo: On a lovely Saturday afternoon, April 9, the RNeighborWoods team helped the NW neighborhood (on the backside of Quarry Hill) plant 24 trees, as part of their Neighborhood Tree Grant. Trees make good neighbors. Since its creation in 2004, RNeighborWoods has organized 2,855 volunteers to plant 3,388 trees on Rochester boulevards.
