The Greater Rochester Arts and Cultural Trust announces “Park the Arts”!

The Arts and Cultural Trust, Rochester Parks and Recreation, RNeighbors, and the Civic Theatre are partnering in this project to activate neighborhood parks as centers for collective arts and social experiences by bringing entertainment and arts activities to parks.

The event is free, family-friendly and open to the community. Bring a chair, blanket and refreshments and enjoy an afternoon to socialize, relax and be entertained by outstanding artists.

  • July 14, 2 pm – Cooke Park, 722 7th Street NW – Six Mile Grove. Americana music featuring frontman Brandon Sampson, Brian Sampson, John Wheeler, Dezi Wallace, and Barry Nelson.
  • July 21, 2 pm  – Parkside Park, 2250 Park Lane SE – Rochester Arts Ensemble. Music, dance, and spoken word reflecting diverse artistic cultural traditions. The opening act is Minnesota’s own Mexica Yolotl, a diverse and dynamic Aztec dance troupe. Then Rochester Art Ensemble will perform their original poetry, dance, and live music. Performers include Danny Solis, McKay Bram, Ryno Mingone, Dominique Jones, Jessi Balagtas, Ginger Fride, Alex Ortberg, and more, to be announced. The event will end with an interactive drumming session, so stick around for a chance to join in.
  • July 28, 2 pm  – Slatterly Park, 950 11th Ave SE – Mitch Stevenson’s production of “A Brief History of Jazz, Blues & Gospel!” with Brass Etc. featuring John Sievers, Eric Straubmuller, Doug Porter and Knufunk featuring LaSonya Natividad, and Rochester’s own blues legend Annie Mack.
