Freshening Up Slatterly Park’s Street Mural
On Wednesday, July 15th RColorful Corners gathered to repaint the Flower Kaleidoscope Slatterly Park Street Mural. Although the day started with high winds and an intimidating cloudy sky, the RColorful Corners team kept their optimism and the day ended up being a great one. The rain stayed away and the mural was repainted to its original vibrant state.
Slatterly Park neighbors, RNeighbors board members, and a large group of Summer of Service kids gathered to repaint the mural. RColorful Corners chair Cassie Runke said, “It was great to see some motivated neighbors, all the great Summer of Service kids, our local artist, Greg Wimmer, and RNeighbors members working together to brighten up the mural again for the Slatterly neighborhood! We were lucky enough to have some great donations from Panera and of course, a slew of paint supplies from our local Sherwin-Williams store.”
Special thanks to all the volunteers, Summer of Service kids, Greg Wimmer, Panera Bread, Sherwin-Williams, the maintenance staff at Hawthorne Literacy Center, and everyone else who helped make the event a success. The event was a great kick-off to our summer street mural paintings.
RColorful Corners is an RNeighbors program that adds color to neighborhoods and increases neighborhood ownership and pride through group projects such as street murals.
