The Post-Bulletin Lends a Hand
On Thursday, April 21, the staff of the Rochester newspaper the Post-Bulletin rallied together to pick up litter as a part of the Litter Bit Better effort. Being in the business of communications, they of course had to record highlights of their litter haul and even made a short video.
But they didn’t stop there. The greening continued with staff filling four planters along the boulevard on 1st Avenue NE with flowers and greenery.
Our thanks to the Post-Bulletin for their efforts to make Rochester A Litter Bit Better!
Most Interesting Garbage
- Oil dipsticks – 2
- What appeared to be a human brain but turned out to be a head of cabbage. Most exciting
- Tide up bungee cord. Most senseless?
- Hub cap – most disappointing, won’t fit my van
- Flute case broken in several spots – hope the flute fared better
- A shoe complete with ant colony happily living inside. Most careful pick-up … they were allowed to remain in the shoe. Hope they don’t mind a new address.
- A pretty pink toddler’s shoe – most unfortunate
- Yellow hard foam and something resembling insulation gone bad.
- Some very odd looking materials deemed “What is that?” Most icky
- Screws, nuts, bolts around the railroad track. – heaviest items
- Enough cigarette butts when strung out may well reach Pine Island. Most numerous
- Fortune cookie that said: “Your love of life will carry you through any circumstance.” Most poignant.
If you haven’t already helped pick up litter this week there is still time to be a part of the city-wide effort. Just register on our site, grab some complimentary Litter Bit Better garbage bags at any Rochester Kwik Trip and pick it up!
