New Energy Program Coming to Rochester

Neighborhood energy challengeLearn how to reduce your energy use and save money!  Rochester Public Utilities and Minnesota Energy Resources have teamed up with the Center for Energy and Environment to offer Rochester homeowners Neighborhood Energy Challenge, which is part of the new full-service residential energy program, Conserve and Save.

Neighborhood Energy Challenge provides:

  • FREE educational workshops to educate homeowners how to lower their energy use and save money;
  • Installation materials such as compact fluorescent light bulbs, low-flow showerheads, gasket seals and more to help participants save now;
  • Customized home energy visits from qualified professionals who will identify additional ways for residents to save in their homes, including a blower door test. Up to $300 in services and materials for a co-pay of only $40;
  • Information on financing, incentives, rebates and tax credits for those wishing to complete larger projects.

Workshops will be held on:

 Thursday, September 23rd, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Folwell Elementary School (603 15th Ave. SW)

OR  Thursday, October 14th, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Bamber Valley Elementary School (2001 Bamber Valley Rd. SW)

Funding for this project was provided by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR).   Funding was also provided by Minnesota Energy Resources and Rochester Public Utilities with community engagement support from RNeighbors.
