Jaclyn Brink
As of April 2010, I have been interning with RNeighbors helping in all sorts of interesting projects such as the street murals and public events, like Arbor Day. Each day brings something new at RNeighbors.
My involvement with the Rochester community has been life-long. I grew up in the Slatterly Park neighborhood and was educated in the Rochester Public School system. After high school I attended Rochester Community and Technical College before transferring to Winona State University to receive my BA in Psychology. I am currently enrolled with St. Mary’s University to finish my masters in Counseling and Psychological services.
In addition to our local community, I value our global community and spend as much time as possible volunteering locally and abroad. Recently I spent 9 months in Peru volunteering at a school in a tiny village. The vibrancy and resiliency that the students there had within them still inspires me.
Were I see RNeighbors five years from now
RNeighbors will continue to be a community resource as well as a tool for bringing neighbors together. I hope to see RNeighbors as a volunteer venue for all people of our diverse community, continuing to reach out and grow with Rochester.
My favorite Tree
I once read a quote saying, “The only thing that exceeds the value of a tree is its beauty.” I truly believe this statement and hope others do too.
For my favorite tree I would have to pick the Maple. The diversity of color in the leaves of the fall is a blessing to Minnesota forests. I could stare out at the trees on a hill side for hours. I always try to paint the memory in my head to remember how beautiful Rochester is, even when I am stuck in a never ending winter.
