August 14 – Multi-Cultural Learning Center Mural Painting
Want to help brighten up a neighborhood?
Multi-Cultural Learning Center • Subject: Tree of Knowledge (shown)
Location: 17th Street and 2nd Avenue NE
Date: Saturday, August 14 (rain date-August 15), 9 am
Come on out to the Multi-Cultural Learning Center at the intersection of 17th Street and 2nd Avenue NE by Kellogg Middle School this Saturday July 17. No painting skills needed, all ages are welcome, you just need a willingness to paint in the lines and get to know some new people. Paint, brushes, and refreshments will be provided.
The paint used is specifically Valspar street paint and contains a high level of grit to ensure the finished mural won’t be slippery for motorists. RNeighbors wrote the grant through SMIF that awarded us 100 gallons for the 2010 mural season.
The Multicultural Learning Center is a non-profit educational organization that offers after school enrichment programs for students K-12. The program is a proven alternative to the youth’s otherwise involvement in gang membership, school drop-out, drugs usage, that emphasizes on character development and ethics.
This is a NEW street mural so it’s going to be very exciting to see how it turns out! The whole point of this public art project is to bring neighbors together. So take a few hours out of your Saturday to help us add some color to this neighborhood!
