National Night Out 2010
National Night Out, a nation- wide annual event, took place this year on Tuesday, August 3. Around 40,000 people signed up to participate in this year’s neighborhood parties, breaking Rochester’s goal of 30,000. This year’s record setting Night Out took place in neighborhoods all across Rochester. This event is organized by Crime Prevention of the Police Department.
The RNeighbors crew stopped by seven different parties this year, bringing door prizes, ordinance booklets, and “How to make a difference in your neighborhood” flyers to each one. Washington neighborhood even got their new meeting announcement signs delivered. Each party had their own style including some with big giant jumpy toys, music, food, door prizes, magicians, bands, and even a balloon artist.
National Night Out’s goal is to get people out in their neighborhoods and develop relationships. In this way, to prevent crime. From what we saw, we’d say the goal was met. Way to go Rochester neighbors!
It’s never too late to start planning for National Night Out 2011. Check CopTalkLive for additional information.
