City of Rochester Announces Upcoming Raingarden Classes
Has this past week of snow, sleet, and all around winter weather have you dreaming of spring? Join us to learn all about raingardens and why you might consider adding one on your landscape. Not only will a raingarden provide habitat for wildlife, it will help treat storm water and be less maintenance than regular turf grass. The Raingardens 101: Why Retain the Rain programs will serve as an introduction to raingardens. Individuals interested in applying for the Realize Raingardens Rochester Cost-Share Grant are encouraged to attend the Cost-Share Grant Writing Workshop happening in March.
Is minimizing pollution of local waterways important to you? Are you looking for a way to draw more birds and
butterflies to your yard? Do you want to spend less time mowing your lawn? Join us to learn how retaining the rain can
make all the difference! This class will cover the basics of raingarden functions, the benefits of long rooted and native
plants, and the importance of managing storm water on site. A photo tour will highlight raingardens throughout the city,
including those installed as part of the Realize Raingarden Rochester cost-share grant program.
