RColorful Corners 2014 Update
In the summer of 2014, RColorful Corners repainted 2 street murals with the help of over 90 volunteers that dedicated 270 hours of time! These events brightened the streets of Rochester and brought together members of the different neighborhoods and partnering organizations. We thank Sherwin Williams for selling the street paint to us at a contract price.
- Slatterly Park Neighborhood-Flower Kaleidoscope, location: 5th Avenue and 7th Street, July 19
- Northrop Neighborhood-Goose, location: 2nd Avenue and between 9th & 10th Street NW, on the one-way street going North, August 12
RColorful Corners is a grassroots project that works to bring neighbors together to create colorful street murals. We transform public space into neighborhood assets, while creating stronger relationships between neighbors. This project is a way for neighbors to gather once a year and work side-by-side in a fun activity, creating a common gathering space. Organized by RNeighbors, this project was spearheaded by neighborhood associations, and works with community organizations, schools and neighbors to fulfill its vision. More history on RColorful Corners can be found at our web site and lots of colorful photos of the painting events can be found on the RNeighbors facebook page.
Program Partners
We couldn’t make this happen without our program partners. Big colorful round of applause for them!
- City of Rochester: ensures the street closure is official, sweeps the street prior to painting, and delivers the barricades
- Sherwin Williams: provides contract prices on the street paint
- Safety Signs: Allows us to use their street barricades
