Realize Raingardens Rochester Cost-Share Grants

In 2009, the City of Rochester launched Realize Raingardens Rochester – a cost-share grant program promoting the installation of residential raingardens in Rochester.  A task force of interested citizens and the City’s Public Works staff developed this program.  Selected sites are used to demonstrate how raingardens slow, treat, and infiltrate storm water, while adding beauty to neighborhoods and creating habitat for songbirds and butterflies. Once again neighbors rolled up their sleeves this fall and planted trees, celebrating the great green community-building national NeighborWoods month. Thanks to over 220 volunteers, this fall 275 trees have found homes in Rochester neighborhood boulevards. September 28, was a gorgeous fall day and over 175 Rochester neighbors came out to plant 200 boulevard trees in the Kutzky Park neighborhood.
