Thank you for being part of RFamily! Around the holiday season, we at RNeighbors like to take time to THANK YOU for your dedication to neighborhoods and look back at just some of what you helped accomplish in 2013. We welcomed two new neighborhoods into our registered association group, Sunnyside and Oak Terrace. Four street murals were repainted with the help of over 175 volunteers, partners, and LOTS of street paint. Realize Raingardens Rochester Cost-Share Grants

In 2009, the City of Rochester launched Realize Raingardens Rochester – a cost-share grant program promoting the installation of residential raingardens in Rochester. A task force of interested citizens and the City’s Public Works staff developed this program. Selected sites are used to demonstrate how raingardens slow, treat, and infiltrate storm water, while adding beauty to neighborhoods and creating habitat for songbirds and butterflies. 2013-14 A Litter Bit Better! Poster Contest Winners

For the seventh year, we challenged all fourth grade students in Rochester to draw a brightly colored picture that displays: Why it is important to not litter How you will make Rochester A Litter Bit Better! There were 269 entries from 10 schools (20 classrooms) across Rochester. 2013 Fall RNeighborWoods Community Tree Planting

Once again neighbors rolled up their sleeves this fall and planted trees, celebrating the great green community-building national NeighborWoods month. Thanks to over 220 volunteers, this fall 275 trees have found homes in Rochester neighborhood boulevards. September 28, was a gorgeous fall day and over 175 Rochester neighbors came out to plant 200 boulevard trees in the Kutzky Park neighborhood. Citizen Pruner Rochester

Minnesota Tree Care Advocate Would you like to become licensed to do certain types of pruning as a volunteer with the city of Rochester? A class will be held November 16th from 9a.m. to 6p.m. at Rochester Community and Technical College. 2014 Fall Neighborhood Tree Grant Planting
