Watch Candidate Forums for Local Elections

Watch Candidate Forums for Local Elections

RNeighbors wants you to get involved and be informed about your neighborhood and your community. One way you can do this is through informing yourself about local election candidates. That is why this year RNeighbors partnered with the League of Women Voters (LWV) and the Rochester Public Library to help get the word out about your voting choices. If you missed the LWV’s candidate forums for City Ward 3, 5, or the School Board seats, they are available to watch on local…

Rochesterfest Parade 2010

Rochesterfest Parade 2010

Although the parade was cancelled at the last second, the weeks of planning that RNeighbors put into preparing for the Rochesterfest parade was still a community building effort. A nasty storm prevented us (and the many other parade entries) from showing off our smiling faces and brightly designed float, we did have a chance to bring together lots of enthusiastic devotees.  How did it all get done?  Kids from the Summer of Service program painted boxes designed as houses to be displayed…

Historic Southwest Mural Painting 2010

Historic Southwest Mural Painting 2010

After days of rain, RNeighbors and volunteers from the Historic Southwest neighborhood could not have been happier to see the sun shining on the morning of June 16.  With all of our ducks (and paintbrushes) in a row and weather finally permitting, the re-painting of the Historical Southwest Funky Flower mural at 7th Street SW and 7th Avenue SW was a colorful success. Participation was excellent with over 75 neighbors and other assorted community members joining in on the fun.  Little bare feet…

Happy Chicken

Happy Chicken

Brenda Gimpl is a local foods enthusiast and has a passion for finding ways to make it available and affordable for everyone. Happy Chicken When my husband and I decided to “go green” with our diet as much as we could, we felt the sticker shock that most people living on a budget do when it comes to paying the sometimes higher prices for locally grown food. A few weeks ago I was at the Rochester Downtown Farmer’s Market shopping…

Beating Back the Beetle
