On Saturday, April 9, 2011, over 55 people dedicated their Saturday on all about how to be a Citizen Forester. The RNeighborWoods team educated enthusiastic participants about tree planting basics, care, basic arboriculture and urban forest advocacy. Currently there are 27,720 vacant boulevard tree spaces throughout Rochester neighborhoods, out of a total of 56,779 spaces. The city is currently at less than a half of capacity and each year 500-900 boulevard trees are removed to disease or damage.   2010 Fall Tree Grant winners Homestead neighbors worked together on a gorgeous fall day to plant 20 trees and add leafy trees to their historic neighborhood boulevards. Trees make good neighbors. Since its creation in 2004, RNeighborWoods has organized 2,285 volunteers to plant 2,360 trees on Rochester boulevards.
