Although the parade was cancelled at the last second, the weeks of planning that RNeighbors put into preparing for the Rochesterfest parade was still a community building effort. Historic Southwest Mural Painting 2010

After days of rain, RNeighbors and volunteers from the Historic Southwest neighborhood could not have been happier to see the sun shining on the morning of June 16.  With all of our ducks (and paintbrushes) in a row and weather finally permitting, the re-painting of the Historical Southwest Funky Flower mural at 7th Street SW and 7th Avenue SW was a colorful success. 2010 Neighborhoods USA Conference

NUSA’s 35th Annual Conference on Neighborhood Concerns , May 26-29, 2010 Neighborhoods, USA (NUSA) is a national non-profit organization committed to building and strengthening neighborhood organizations. The City of Rochester and RNeighbors are proud members of NUSA and are working to bring an upcoming NUSA conference to Rochester. The 2010 NUSA Conference was held in Little Rock, Arkansas. Neighbors for Safety is growing into the City recognized Citizen Advisors for Public Safety Committee.  This is a grassroots effort to develop strategies to address Rochester neighborhood livability concerns. Community organizers and neighborhood members from each city ward will make up this 12 member group.   Citizen Advisors for Public Safety will serve as a communication link between residents and local government to improve public safety. SMIF Awards Paint to RNeighbors

Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation  Awards Free Paint Throughout Southern Minnesota  For the 13th year, Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) awarded free paint to local organizations through their annual ‘Picture It Painted’ (PIP) program.  This year approximately $13,500 worth of free paint is helping to beautify communities across the 20-county region.  PIP, a partnership between SMIF and Valspar Corporation, is designed to support collaborative community beautification and restoration projects and encourage volunteerism throughout southern Minnesota. “Picture it Painted reminds us of how much collaboration shapes and improves our communities and…
