About Neighborhood Project Grants

Background This program started off in the spring of 2015 with funds from the City of Rochester and Olmsted County Public Health, with oversight from RNeighbors.  Offered once a year in the spring, these grants reimburse up to $1,000 in costs for neighborhoods to complete projects that enhance a neighborhood’s livability and involvement, benefit the entire neighborhood and promote a strong sense of community. A Litter Bit Better! 2015 Final Results

2015 was the 9th annual Help Make Rochester A Litter Bit Better! event. Each year, thousands of volunteers collect litter from across Rochester. Together in the past 9 years, these individuals, service groups, businesses, scout troops, faith-based organizations, neighborhood associations, and families have worked together to remove over 112 tons of litter from the community. Photo: On September 27, 2014, the RNeighborWoods team helped the Washington neighborhood plant 25 trees including Ginkgo, Elm (disease resistant), Crab-apple, Red Bud, Buckeye, and Swamp White Oaks as a part of the Neighborhood Tree Grant. Trees make good neighbors. Since its creation in 2004, RNeighborWoods has organized 5,150 volunteers to plant 5,764 trees on Rochester boulevards.
