Eastside Pioneers Action Alert
The Minnesota Legislature recently weakened Minnesota Statute 609.115 governing victim input into pre-sentence investigations (PSI) associated with felony violations of Chapter 152 involving the sale or distribution of a controlled substance. The new language says that PSI’s do not necessarily have to include any adverse social or economic effects the offense has had on persons who reside in the neighborhood where the offense was committed.
This significantly diminishes the contact that court services departments will have with crime victims.
This will cut victim and neighborhood input into the process significantly. We cannot let this happen!!!
Contact Governor Tim Pawlenty today at 651-296-3391 or at tim.pawlenty@state.mn.us and request that he veto any effort to cut victims out of the process. If you have any questions contact Michael LaPlante at 507 244 1898.
