Chapter 17 – RNeighbors Resources
RNeighbors, is a resource helping Rochester’s neighbors to build community and strengthen neighborhoods.
RNeighbors assists neighborhoods with answers & resources. Benefits for neighborhood organizations include liability insurance for Neighborhood Association meetings and events, RNeighborSigns to advertise upcoming Association meetings, crime watch resources and opportunities for increased visibility such as participation in the Rochesterfest Parade and National Night Out.
Each of the programs and projects below support Neighborhood Associations. Through these collaborative efforts, RNeighbors works to bring additional tools, resources, and community building events to neighborhoods.

RColorful Corners
Without spending a single tax dollar, this program brings neighbors together to create art, reclaiming ownership of public space.
RNeighborWoods
An ongoing project partnership working for citywide neighborhood improvement by strengthening Rochester’s urban forest.

RNeighborhood Association Toolkit
This one-stop tutorial will aid current associations, and give start-up neighborhood groups guidelines for successful community organizing.
RNeighborSigns
We create and provide yard signs announcing neighborhood association meetings. Just ask us how.
City Ordinance Highlight Booklet
The City of Rochester, MN Ordinance Highlight booklet can be used to answer many questions about what to do and who to contact to get the information and assistance needed about City ordinances and neighborhoods.

RNeighbors annual tropical fundraiser and celebration that takes place each September.
Other Community Projects
Chalk the Block for National Night Out
This activity partners with Community Education’s Summer of Service (SOS) program, working with neighborhood kids to spruce up sidewalks with chalk art for National Night Out.
Help Make Rochester A Litter Bit Better!
At the beginning of 2007, two citizens came to Mayor Brede with the idea of building a “trash mountain”, getting community members involved in a city-wide litter clean up effort. Supported by Rochester businesses and government entities, a loose collaboration of organizations and businesses joined together to organize this city-wide clean up effort.
National Night Out
Each year, on the first Tuesday in August, neighbors join together to celebrate National Night Out. NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer and more cohesive nation.
