Trees, like no other plant, slow down and capture rainfall. For this reason, trees already play an important role in reducing the needs for stormwater treatment and helping cities meet clean water regulations. Without trees, cities would have to greatly increase the capacity of their stormwater systems. Yet planning for tree planting and preservation and planning for stormwater management are seldom connected. Pooling the planning and budgets for these two functions can help reduce overall costs and maximize the benefits of both.

This workshop will help professionals recognize the possibilities, identify the techniques and understand the economics of integrating trees into storm water management and meeting federal, state and local water quality regulations and ordinances
