Racial and Ethnic Tensions: What should we do? – A Deliberative Forum
The rich diversity of the American people may be its greatest promise and its greatest challenge. The country has made great strides in breaking down barriers that once separated us, but we continue to struggle with a legacy of discrimination and ethnic disparity. Though more subtle today, what can we do about the problems that continue to divide us? Lets discuss. Presented so as to coincide with the exhibit “RACE: Are we so different?” at display in the Rochester Public Library through September 4th, we ask you to join in with your neighbors and talk about it in a National Issues Forum.
Presented this coming Tuesday, July 27, by the Diversity council, in partnership with the Minnesota Humanities Center, the forum will discuss racial and ethnic tensions within our community. The program will go from 6 pm to 8 pm and take place in the University of Minnesota Rochester in University Square. Attending is free, but due to limited space you must register to attend. Registration begins at 5:30 and you are asked to bring a brown bag dinner or pick up something from the food court before meeting in the student commons before the program begins.
