Rochester-Alert is part of the local emergency management ongoing commitment to provide Rochester and Olmsted County residents, visitors, and employees with up-to-date information on evolving emergencies and disasters.
Each one of us can handle disasters better if we know what is going on. Allow local emergency management to help you decide the best actions to take. When disaster strikes, warnings and information will be sent out by different methods (e.g. email, cell phones) to those who sign up for Rochester-Alert.
Information sent to you and posted here will include severe weather warnings, significant highway closures, hazardous materials spills, and other emergency conditions. Additionally you will find information regarding response actions recommended by emergency professionals and protective actions that you should take to protect you, your family and your property.
By signing up for Rochester-Alert, you can receive warnings and emergency information via the web, your cell phone, email and other technologies. Signing up for Rochester-Alert is free. Your information is protected and never shared with anyone else. You can modify what type of information you receive or unsubscribe at any time. Rochester-Alert is a tool to provide you with critical information when you may need it most.
Senior citizens and others without an email address can receive alerts over the phone. These alerts will be used for the most serious emergencies.
