The “Butt Kickers!” of John Adams picked up 19,959 cigarette butts from Downtown Rochester on 6/4/2013
Do some areas of Downtown Rochester look a little bit cleaner this morning? The “Butt Kickers” of John Adams Middle School were out in the rain yesterday picking up cigarette butts and they have quite the bounty to show for their efforts. The John Adams “Butt Kickers” with Mayor Ardell Brede
The “Butt Kickers” were in action for 6 hours and picked up the following:
- 19,959 cigarette butts (which was less than the 24,811 picked up in 2012)
- 81 cigarette boxes
- 5 lighters
- 16 other miscellaneous smoke related products
The Rochester Downtown Alliance, Mayor Ardell Brede, Rochester Park and Recreation offered $0.05 per cigarette butt picked-up. Yesterday’s efforts by the earned $997.95 that will go towards the John Adam’s Science Alive Lab!
