Welcoming RNeighbors’ New Minnesota GreenCorps Member!

Hello, my name is Brittany Stewart and I am so excited to be joining the RNeighbors team.  Just to tell you a little bit about myself I am from Kansas City, MO and found out about the Minnesota GreenCorp, which is apart of Americorp(www.nextstep.state.mn.us/res_detail.cfm?id=4175), through the career center at school (Gustavus Adolphus College “go gusties!”).  My favorite colors are green and purple and I love to eat/try all kinds of food.  My hobbies include reading, watching movies, listening to music, and knitting (a new pass-time I recently took up), and of course meeting new people and hanging out with friends.  I try to be as “green” as I can be and I love to learn about new ways in which I can help the environment.  However, I was not always this wayand I would say that my life changing experience occurred last summer in San Francisco.  I was selected to be and Environmental Education Intern through the Student Conservation Association (www.thesca.org) and through that I met a lot of wonderful people and had so many great experiences.  During my stay housing was provided, and my roommates had the biggest impact on me as they were already “green.”  With them I learned so many different ways in which I could live with the environment such as reducing the amount of waste that I produced.  People can make such a big impact on each other and in-turn people also make such a big impact on the environment.  So working with RNeighbors is such a great opportunity to work with neighborhoods and spread the word on how we can “impact” the environment in a positive way!
